As Covid-19 continues to confine us to our homes, there is no better way to have a date night than by cuddling up with your s/o or other loved ones and binging movies in a go. Even if you are single, you can still have a great time sitting back and relaxing with a fun movie. Of course, with the dawn of the streaming age, there’s no reason to watch just one movie. So here are our picks for the perfect romantic or platonic date binge!
A Walk to Remember (2002)
Whether you are single or taken, into cheesy love stories or not, if you are looking for a movie with real emotion that might make you shed some tears — look no further. Two high school kids, with very different backgrounds end up falling in love. But will they be able to survive the challenges that the world throws at them, especially when the girl reveals that she has cancer?
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (2016)
If you are in the mood for a slapstick comedy that has absolutely nothing to do with hearts, flowers or finding ‘The One’, then Eddie and Patsy are your girls. This one will make you thankful for the huns in your life who regularly make you snort the snoot out of your nose laughing and who are always on hand to bail you out of any iffy dating disasters. Watch this with your Valentine or even your platonic ride-or-dies!
This is probably among our best recommendations for a Valentine’s day movie. “Hitch” is about a man who makes a living helping guys attract the girls of their dreams. But what will happen when the man himself finds that he has fallen in love? Filled with hilarious scenes, not to mention Will Smith, this movie is definitely one of the best rom coms out there!
Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)
If you are a sucker for a good, cliche romantic comedy, Crazy, Stupid, Love is your Valentine’s Day watch (or rewatch). This movie features iconic celebrities, such as Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and Steve Carell, and follows the lives of several characters as they try to figure out their respective love lives and relationships. A classic rom com, this movie will have you laughing and rooting for the characters! Definitely a great feel-good movie for when you just want to enjoy something lighthearted.
If you really want to take your mind off your disaster-of-a-dating-life, this will do it! This masterful French horror is about a vegetarian who starts craving for human flesh after being forced to eat raw rabbit liver in a hazing ritual. It is funny in a really gross, kind of weird and totally terrifying way, and has thus become a cult hit thanks to a string of brilliant reviews (even though it had people passing out at the screening). Definitely worth a watch on a date night, isn’t it?
